Dacthal (DCPA) Reference Standards
AccuStandard offers Neat and Single Component Certified Reference Materials (CRMs) for the pesticide, Dacthal (DCPA), CAS # 1861-32-1 as well as DCPA Diacid CAS # 2136-79-0.
Health Risks of Dacthal (DCPA)
Dacthal (DCPA) is a pesticide registered to control weeds in both agricultural and non-agricultural settings, but is primarily used on crops such as broccoli, brussels sprouts, cabbage and onions. The USEPA has determined that exposure to DCPA is linked to changes to fetal thyroid hormone levels causing complications such as low birth weight, impaired brain development, decreased IQ, and impaired motor skills later in life. Pregnant women involved in tasks such as transplanting, weeding and harvesting in areas where DCPA has been applied are at risk. Spray drift from pesticide application could also put at risk the unborn babies of pregnant individuals living near areas where DCPA is used.
